Our First Mississippi Photo Outing - Sept. 2010

Mother Bear and her cub playing on a dirt road into the cotton fields.

After they ran off into the cotton the mama bear kept poking her head up to look back at us.
We spent a great Sunday afternoon driving around the Tensas Wildlife Refuge shortly after moving to Mississippi. We were driving past this cotton field when I thought that I saw some dogs playing down a dirt road. I pulled out the binoculars and saw that it was a mama Louisiana Black bear playing with her cub. We slowly drove the hummer down the dirt road as Becky is clicking off pictures. We slowed up and then they spotted us and darted into the protection of the cotton field. The mama then stopped in the field and poked here head up over the cotton to see if we were in pursuit. This was a thrilling encounter for us as we talked about it for weeks and still talk about it. Becky shared this shot with the Jackson Photographic Society at one of our meetings and everyone just loved it.

Easter GeoCache hunt 4-24-2011

So today on Easter after a great morning of praise and teaching at our church we had a great steak lunch and then off to do some Easter GeoCache hunting. We have no little ones at home to hide Easter eggs for so we went GeoCaching with Drew this afternoon. There were two geocaches not far from the house that we went and found. If you are not familar with geocaching, it is a fun game played with the gps on your phone or with a portable gps. People stash containers with trinkets and it has a log book in the cache. When you find it you sign the log and leave a trinket or trade a trinket. It's a fun easy outdoor activity.
I'll attach a photo after I get it to my computer
