After they ran off into the cotton the mama bear kept poking her head up to look back at us. |
We spent a great Sunday afternoon driving around the Tensas Wildlife Refuge shortly after moving to Mississippi. We were driving past this cotton field when I thought that I saw some dogs playing down a dirt road. I pulled out the binoculars and saw that it was a mama Louisiana Black bear playing with her cub. We slowly drove the hummer down the dirt road as Becky is clicking off pictures. We slowed up and then they spotted us and darted into the protection of the cotton field. The mama then stopped in the field and poked here head up over the cotton to see if we were in pursuit. This was a thrilling encounter for us as we talked about it for weeks and still talk about it. Becky shared this shot with the Jackson Photographic Society at one of our meetings and everyone just loved it.
